A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues.
There are two types of dentures: complete and partial. Complete dentures are for patients who are missing all of their teeth, while partial dentures are for those who still have some natural teeth. When missing any teeth, partial dentures can prevent other teeth from shifting their position in the mouth.
Dentures have the following benefits:
- Replace complete loss of all teeth in an arch.
- Replace partial loss of teeth in an arch.
- Enhance smile.
- Improve chewing, speech and digestion.
Dentures will give support and functionality to your smile. Please give us a call to learn more about complete or partial dentures.
The procedure requires several appointments to our office over several weeks. During these visits, impressions (molds) will be taken to provide custom-made dentures. Several appointments may be necessary to provide the best possible result in the shape, color, and fit of the denture. At the final appointment, the dentures will be ready for adjustment and positioned byDr. Godinez for a natural and comfortable fit.
Adjustment time for your muscles and tissue to become familiar to the new dentures is required. During this temporary adjustment period, it is common to experience an increase of saliva flow, soreness, and difficulty in chewing and speech. Keep in mind this is normal and, in time, your mouth will be fully healed and adjusted.
Instruction on care and maintenance of your dentures will be given to you. Proper cleaning and hygiene will help with the longevity of your dentures. Contact us to schedule a consultation today.
